Unfortunately our weekend fixture against Knowsley was the victim of bad weather for a second successive week. A huge thanks to Mr Downing from Knowsley SFA who inspected the pitch for us on Friday afternoon. The early decision meant the nobody had to travel down the next morning so it was very welcome indeed.

After a meeting of all district associations on Monday 9th January it was decided that all G.M.C.S.F.A League matches will now be part of what is called the Northern Merit League. This new competition now awards points to teams for the number of fixtures they have played as well for wins and draws. At the end of the season there will be a trophy for the team on top of the league but there will also be a round robin tournament for the top four sides that will see another trophy awarded (a bit like the play offs in NFL!!). The new format encourages participation and attacking play and gives each side more ownership over their fixtures and opponents.

At the moment there are no plans for a match this Saturday but I am sure that Mr Baldwin will be looking to get some fixtures arranged in due course to help us to climb the merit league table.

Please keep an eye on this page for details!

Best wishes

Mr Jackson
